HISTORY

JONCKHEERE subcontracting has a rich history dating back to 1881. Since then, the company has evolved into a leading player in metalworking.

1881

Henri Jonckheere starts with the production of horse-drawn carriages. The company evolves to car construction before the First World War. Jonckheere becomes big with brands such as Minerva, Metalurgique and FN.

1910

Joseph Jonckheere takes over. Due to heavy competition and the rise of industrial production (such as Ford), the company reoriented itself towards building buses for public transport.

1930-1960

The company is expanding from 117 employees to 600 colleagues.

1960

Under the leadership of the founder’s grandson Henri Jonckheere in the 1960s, Carrosserie Jonckheere bvba grew into a company with 1,000 employees divided over two divisions: buses and subcontracting.

1991

The company is split into two divisions: a bus division and a subcontracting division . The light sheet metal working activities are moved to Poperinge (Poperinge Metal Construction).

1992-1994

Jonckheere bvba is renamed JONCKHEERE subcontracting NV . Two years later the bus activities are sold to Berkhof (NL) and later to VDL (NL).

1997

JONCKHEERE subcontracting is taken over by the Schodts family.

2004

The international expansion continues, thanks to the establishment of a 6.000m² production unit JONCKHEERE s.r.o. in Košice, Slovakia.

2008

Construction of a fully automatic wet painting line in a new building of 1700m².

2017

Retirement of CEO Paul JA Schodts. The next generation continues the activities.

2023

Expansion of the branch in Slovakia with a new building of 2200m².

Today

Today, JONCKHEERE subcontracting is investing heavily in high-tech machinery to serve its customers even better and faster.
